Tempe estate service

Estate Cleanouts Tempe AZ

Clearing a Tempe home after a loss, a move into care or a long-distance family handover. You decide what stays; Haulo carries out the rest, room by room, and leaves the place swept. Insured crew, our own people, price confirmed before we start.

An estate cleanout is rarely just hauling. There are keepsakes to find, paperwork to keep, a property to hand back or get ready for sale, and often family out of state trying to coordinate it all. Haulo handles the physical part so you can handle the decisions — one room today and the rest next week, or the whole property in a single visit.

Same-day service runs across Tempe every day: apartments and rentals around ASU and downtown with elevators, stairs and tight parking, the older neighborhoods like Maple-Ash and Mitchell Park where alley access matters, and the family homes in Warner Ranch, The Lakes and south Tempe.

Tempe estate cleanout covers Downtown Tempe and ASU, Maple-Ash, Mitchell Park, Kiwanis Park, Warner Ranch, The Lakes and South Tempe, plus the rest of Tempe. Not sure about your street? Text the address and we confirm.

What this service handles

Whole-property or selected-room clearing of a house, condo, apartment or mobile home, plus its garage, shed and storage.

  • Boxes, bags and accumulated household goods
  • Garage, shed, patio and storage contents
  • Carpet and loose fixtures already pulled
  • Move-out sweep of the cleared areas
  • Phased visits when the family is sorting between them
  • Furniture, mattresses and bed frames from every room

What we cannot take, and what we assess first

The short version for Tempe; the full policy is on the regional estate cleanout page.

We cannot take

  • Solvents, thinners, stains and other flammable liquids
  • Gasoline, motor oil, antifreeze and other automotive fluids
  • Propane tanks and other gas cylinders
  • Pool chemicals, pesticides, fertilizers and unknown liquids
  • Asbestos, lead-contaminated material and mold-remediation waste
  • Medical or biohazard waste

We assess first

  • Occupied units or shared buildings with elevator bookings or loading rules
  • Very heavy pieces (pianos, gun safes) — a photo lets us plan the carry
  • Paint — we can usually take it, but send a photo of the cans first
  • Firearms, ammunition, safes and medications — please remove them before we arrive; we will tell you if we find any

What estate cleanout costs in Tempe

Haulo prices from your photos and confirms the price before anything is loaded. Typical range: $329–$599 per load; a full house is usually two or more loads, and we tell you the count from the photos. Have a budget? Say so — we would rather work with it than lose the job. What moves the number:

Prices checked 11 Sep 2026.

  • Whether the family wants it done in phases or in one visit
  • Sweep-only or a deeper clear of garages, sheds and closets
  • How many rooms and how full they are
  • Stairs, elevators, long carries and parking distance

Worth knowing before you call anyone: Tempe's bulk collection for residential customers is every other month, up to 10 cubic yards out by 6 a.m. Monday of your week, and does not take freon appliances, tires, glass, dirt, rock, concrete or construction debris (tempe.gov, checked 8 Sep 2026). Haulo is a private hauler, not the city program; the trade-off is cost against timing, access and what is accepted. More typical ranges are on the pricing page.

How estate cleanout works in Tempe

  1. 01

    Send photos and access details

Text photos of each area that is going and tell us what must stay. Let us know who will give us access and whether there are building rules.

  2. 02

We confirm the scope, the price and an arrival window

We reply with a price, the number of loads and a window. Retained items and off-limits rooms are written into the plan.

  3. 03

The crew removes the agreed items and cleans up

The crew clears the agreed rooms, carries everything to the trailer, sweeps and confirms with you before leaving.

What happens to the items

Usable furniture and household goods go to a donation drop-off on the route — Goodwill, Habitat for Humanity ReStore or St. Vincent de Paul, whichever is convenient and accepting that day. Metal goes to a scrap recycler. Everything else goes to a licensed transfer station or landfill. This depends on condition and on who is accepting that day, so Haulo does not promise a donation outcome or publish a diversion percentage. If a specific item must go to a specific place, tell us and we keep it separate.

Estate cleanouts in Tempe: the every-other-month bulk pickup or Haulo?

Tempe’s program collects one curbside pile from residents on city trash service, up to 10 cubic yards at the curb; the contents of a whole house rarely fit, and none of it qualifies while it is still inside. Haulo carries everything out room by room, separates donations from disposal, and finishes in one visit instead of waiting for up to two months.

Haulo is in Tempe every day, with same-day service for texts before 7 p.m., apartments and rentals around ASU and downtown with elevators, stairs and tight parking, the older neighborhoods like Maple-Ash and Mitchell Park where alley access matters, and the family homes in Warner Ranch included, with no waiting for up to two months.

Not accepted by Tempe

Appliances with freon, tires, glass, mirrors, hazardous chemicals, car parts, dirt, rock, concrete and construction debris.

Estate Cleanouts questions from Tempe

Do you clean the house afterwards?
We sweep the cleared areas of loose debris. Deep cleaning, repairs and paint are not part of the service.
What if the family lives out of state?
Send a walkthrough video or photos from whoever has the keys, confirm the scope by text and arrange access. Payment is taken when the job is done and you have seen the after photos.
Can we do it in stages?
Yes. Many families clear the obvious rooms first and come back for the garage or the last bedroom after they have sorted. Each visit is priced on its own.
Who has to be there?
Whoever has authority over the property and can confirm what leaves — an executor, family member, property manager or their representative. If nobody can be present, we work from a written scope you confirm by text and photos.
I rent in Tempe. Does the city bulk pickup cover me?
Only if your building is on residential city collection, and it runs every other month. Most apartment turnovers cannot wait for that and the pile is upstairs anyway. Text photos, tell us the floor and whether there is an elevator, and we schedule around the building.
Can I use Tempe bulk trash instead of Haulo for estate cleanouts?
Yes, when it fits the rules: every other month; out by 6 a.m. Monday of your week, up to 10 cubic yards at the curb, and nothing on the refused list (appliances with freon, tires, glass, mirrors, hazardous chemicals, car parts, dirt, rock, concrete and construction debris). If it can wait for up to two months and you can get it to the curb, the city is the cheaper choice and we will say so. Haulo is for what does not fit: items still inside, more than up to 10 cubic yards at the curb, refused materials, or a date that cannot wait for up to two months.
What does Tempe bulk trash refuse that Haulo will take?
Tempe refuses appliances with freon, tires, glass, mirrors, hazardous chemicals, car parts, dirt, rock, concrete and construction debris. Of those, Haulo takes freon appliances, dirt, rock, concrete and construction debris, along with whole-property loads and oversized single items. Tires and hazardous chemicals stay off our trailer as well; the what-we-cannot-take guide lists the drop-off programs.
